"We steer our lives onto roads where they don't belong, craving validation... We are fragile; sometimes broken.

And I'm happy to be me.

But I'm much happier to be us."

American CIA Field Operative, Johnnie Allen, is assigned to Denmark for his first mission. An American spy highly placed in the Kremlin is to be spirited out of Russia, and it is Johnnie’s job to get him safely to Antwerp where the agent will board a freighter.

Johnnie, who is a young gay man, meets and falls in love with a Danish lad named Sander, who is apparently straight. Wanting to keep his friend close to him, he makes the mistake of bringing him on the mission. What will become of their friendship if Johnnie confesses his love to Sander? And is the Russian agent all he seems to be?

The Story Behind

Happy Endings Sleepover

Many viewers of our film, Happy Endings Sleepover, will watch it not knowing that it is actually based on the real-life events in writer Cade Jay Hathaway's life.

Cade began his employment with the Central Intelligence Agency back in 2009. Hired as a Transport Specialist—the same job Johnnie has in the film—Cade was assigned to the Scandinavian country of Denmark, where in fact he met the love of his life, a fella called Lasse. They eventually married and still live in Denmark today.

The parts of the story that were not subject to classified restrictions are what made up the book. And Cade Jay Hathaway is the writer charged with turning his successful book into the first of what will be many films.

There are seven Johnnie & Sander stories ( the final title, The Case Officer to be published January 20, 2024). And a new creative team is already at work on the streaming version of an exciting new series called The Johnnie & Sander Stories.
